k+m apartment

A renovation of a turn of the century 150 m² apartment in Södermalm, Stockholm, where contemporary interventions are introduced through contrast rather than imitation. Light and dark surfaces define different spatial atmospheres throughout the home, while a restrained material palette and carefully preserved historic details create a dialogue between the existing architecture and a quieter modern expression.

"Historic character remains

Carefully contrasted with a more restrained and contemporary architectural language”

"Modern interventions appear quietly

Allowing the original proportions and detailing to continue defining the residence”

"Light and shadow shift

Defining distinct atmospheres throughout the residence”
